The perfect moment – when even the to-do list needs a vacation

Today is not my day. Yesterday wasn't either. And tomorrow? We'll talk about that after the break. With The Perfect Moment – Totally Overslept, a comedy by Horst Evers, comes to the German Theatre Göttingen on November 19, 2026. The play pokes fun at the modern drive for achievement and transforms procrastination, boredom, and the typical craziness of everyday life into a sharp laughing experience.

Between challenge, chill mode, and charming chaos

Humans have gotten used to viewing life as a constant challenge. Professionally the next task, privately the next project, and in between, please have the perfect work-life balance. The production relishes in turning this obsession for optimization inside out and questions why slowing down only seems to work when it is urgently planned.

Comedy with precise timing

Horst Evers combines everyday observations with dry humor, surprising punchlines, and a generous dose of self-irony. The focus is on the little catastrophes of modern life: postponed plans, ignored to-do lists, and the attempt to organize the perfect moment so carefully that it promptly disappears. This creates a comedy atmosphere where the audience feels caught yet laughs heartily.

Boredom as a creative secret weapon

What initially sounds like doing nothing develops into a subversive counter-program against constant acceleration. The performance shows that boredom not only means waiting time but can also create space for new thoughts. Between cabaret proximity, theatre comedy, and pointed social observation, a stage experience with fine timing and plenty of recognition value emerges.

An evening at the German Theatre Göttingen

The performance takes place in the cellar of the German Theatre Göttingen and begins on Thursday, November 19, 2026, at 8:30 PM. The official program states a duration until 9:40 PM. The venue at Theatre Square 11 provides the perfect setting for an evening where the next big achievement doesn’t count, but the liberating moment of simply laughing about one’s own chaos does.

Conclusion: Please don’t miss it, even though that's the theme

The Perfect Moment – Totally Overslept offers a humorous break from optimization stress. Visitors can expect an intelligent comedy with pointed texts, familiar everyday situations, and plenty of opportunities to ignore their own to-do list for a few hours.
