Festive Organ Sounds at the 16th Bach Festival in Göttingen
On Friday, October 30, 2026, St. Jacobi Church Göttingen will transform into a stunning sound space for the 16th Bach Festival under the motto Reformation. The concert starts at 6 PM and is part of the 28th International Organ Days.
Bach, Choral Music, and Baroque Orchestra
The program features the St. Jacobi Chamber Choir, the Jacobikantorei, soloists, and a Baroque orchestra. The historical musical language of Johann Sebastian Bach meets the special acoustics of the church space, creating a festive connection of sacred music, choir, and instrumental ensemble.
An Extraordinary Sound Space
At the center of the concert series is the large Ott organ of St. Jacobi Church. The instrument, inaugurated in 1966, was expanded in 2007 and now has 68 stops and 4806 pipes across four manuals and pedal. Three Spanish trumpets provide a particularly bright, festive sound.
Experience Music History Live
Since its inauguration, many internationally renowned organists have performed on the Ott organ. The Friday organ concerts at St. Jacobi have been held regularly for many years and have already seen over 2200 performances. The Bach Festival impressively continues this rich concert history with choir, soloists, and Baroque orchestra.
Free Entry
Admission to the concert on October 30, 2026, is free. Music lovers can expect a concentrated live atmosphere with skillful orchestration, clear choir synchronization, and the monumental sound effect of the Ott organ.
Anyone wanting to experience Bach in an authentic church music setting should attend this concert live in Göttingen. The 28th International Organ Days combine international organ tradition, festive sacred music, and an extraordinary instrument into a special concert experience.
