The LUMIÈRE cinema in Göttingen invites you on November 10, 2026, to a carefully curated cinema program. At 5:30 PM, an evening begins that combines sophisticated film art, cultural education, and the concentrated atmosphere of a traditional program cinema.

Curated cinema as a cultural experience

Lumière stands for a selection of artistically outstanding feature and documentary films as well as socially relevant themes. The cinema hall becomes a place for contemplating the work: light, movement, montage, sound, and acting unfold their effect in the shared attention of the audience.

Film art between aesthetics and societal dialogue

The cinema program opens perspectives on contemporary filmmaking and connects aesthetic experience with cultural reflection. The focus is on the cinematic imagery, the dramaturgical design, and the question of how cinema makes social reality visible.

A special place for cinephiles

The LUMIÈRE cinema is operated by the Film and Cinema Initiative Göttingen and looks back on a long history as a municipally funded program cinema. The intimate exhibition atmosphere of the cinema hall, the concentrated screen effect, and the selected program create an art experience away from the mainstream.
