The Méliès Cinema Program invites you to a special evening of film art in Göttingen on November 20, 2026. The screening will begin at 5:30 PM at the historic program cinema on Bürgerstraße.

Art House Cinema with its Own Atmosphere

The cinema MÉLIÈS combines sophisticated film screenings with an extraordinary spatial effect. The venue is located in a lovingly converted former Baptist church, whose preserved timber-frame construction lends a distinctive architectural atmosphere to the cinema hall. Here, modern projection technology meets a historical building, creating an intense artistic experience.

Work Examination in the Dark Hall

The changing cinema program dedicates itself to noteworthy film art, current art house productions, film series, and special events. The focus is on conscious examination of works: image composition, editing, acting, sound and narrative perspective unfold their effects on the big screen. The exhibition atmosphere of a museum gives way to the intense aesthetic experience of moving images.

Cultural Education and Cinematic Diversity

The Méliès enriches the Göttingen cultural landscape with a curated program for film enthusiasts. In addition to regular screenings, special film series, short film offerings, and events with a cultural educational mandate also take place there. Attending the cinema provides insights into various art directions of films and invites viewers to consider social issues from new perspectives.
