The Search for Light: Egbert Krause-Wessel's Radiant Visual Worlds in Göttingen

On Saturday, October 31, 2026, the Torhaus Gallery Göttingen opens its doors for an intense encounter with the exhibition The Search for Light by Egbert Krause-Wessel. Between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, visitors will experience a selection of artistic works that bring light, color, and mysterious structures into a poetic dialogue.

Layer by Layer to the Radiant Picture Surface

The focus is on works from more than four decades of artistic work since 1980. Egbert Krause-Wessel primarily works with resin oil glazing technique on cardboard, silk, and gold leaf. Through transparent layers of color, reflective materials, and finely adjusted overlays, picture spaces are created, whose effect changes with the shifting light of the gallery.

Fantastic Formations and Open Perception

The exhibition directs attention to extraordinary structures and fantastic formations. In the works, more than just the immediately representational appears: areas of color, contours, and material traces open spaces of association between abstract painting, inner landscapes, and organic movement. The concentrated observation of the works invites visitors to linger longer and sharpen their own perception.
