Storytime from the Box: The Grumpy Troll Invites You to Listen

On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Göttingen City Library – Elliehausen branch will transform into a cozy reading corner for children and families. Gudrun Rohrbach will read the picture book The Grumpy Troll by aprilkind and provide little listeners with an inspiring hour filled with children's laughter, curiosity, and quality time together.

When Anger Grows

The little troll experiences a day when everything goes wrong: His hut keeps falling apart, and no apples want to fall from the tree. The frustration grows until a strong grumpiness emerges from anger. The story captures a feeling that children know from their everyday lives and makes great anger understandable for kids.

A Valuable Learning Experience for Children

During the reading, children experience what feelings feel like and the consequences of thoughtless behavior for friendships. The story age-appropriately encourages reflection on frustration, self-regulation, apology, and solidarity. Thus, the reading combines fun learning with a warm literary experience and supports emotional development.

Cozy Family Time in the Library

A calm atmosphere is created in the reading corner where children listen attentively, discover pictures, and dive into the world of the Grumpy Troll. Parents and guardians can enjoy a relaxed reading hour with their children in a protected indoor space. The event takes place without registration and as long as space is available.

Conclusion: Reading, Feeling, and Wondering Together

The storytime from the box offers a lovingly designed family experience with a strong message: Big feelings are part of life, and friendship deserves a second chance. Families will experience an age-appropriate reading filled with imagination, conversation starters, and quality time together on November 3.
