Storytime with Children's Laughter in the Göttingen Children's Library
When the Children's Library opens its doors on Saturday mornings, families begin a cozy journey into the world of books. On November 7, 2026, Hiltrud Althaus, Gabriele Scheel, and Sigrid Backhaus will read at the Göttingen City Library. Children and their caregivers will experience an age-appropriate reading hour with pictures, exciting characters, and plenty of room for imagination.
With the Kamishibai on Martin's Journey
Hiltrud Althaus presents the story The Most Beautiful Lantern in the World by Johanna Lindemann using the Kamishibai storytelling theater. The focus is on Anton, whose self-made lantern gets damaged during the Martin parade. An unexpected encounter brings help and tells a child-friendly story about sharing, compassion, and mutual support.
Wondering, Listening, and Discovering Together
The Kamishibai combines reading with picture-supported storytelling. The changing images help children access the plot, enhance attention, and encourage conversation. Important learning experiences around language, emotions, social development, and the joy of listening together arise from this.
A Calm Family Experience in the Middle of Göttingen
On the reading platform of the Children's Library, families find a cozy setting for quality time together. Children's laughter, curiosity, and the special atmosphere among books make the reading hour a relaxed family experience. The event takes place on-site and is designed for families with children.
Admission and Participation
Participation is free and does not require registration, as long as seats are available. The reading hour begins on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 11:30 AM and lasts until 12:30 PM.
Conclusion: An Hour Full of Imagination and Learning Fun
The reading hour in the Children's Library offers families a valuable break filled with stories, pictures, and child-friendly impulses. Those who listen together, wonder, and talk about Anton and his lantern experience literature up close. Mark the date and enjoy storytime live at the Göttingen City Library.
