Yarn and Stories: Literature Between Stitches and Reading Aloud

When the quiet clacking of knitting needles combines with the sound of stories being read aloud, a special literary experience is created in the Göttingen City Library. At Yarn and Stories, communal crafting, reading culture, and personal encounters come together in an open, warm atmosphere.

Knitting Tips and Literary Delicacies

Maria Gerl-Plein accompanies participants with practical advice on knitting and supports them with questions or small challenges related to their own projects. This format is aimed at people who want to combine handicrafts and stories. Participants are explicitly invited to bring their own knitting materials.

A Reading with a Special Rhythm

While hands pick up stitches and patterns emerge, Elke Ludloff-Taege reads selected stories. Language, voice, and the focused movement of the needles create an intimate reading atmosphere where literature is not presented at a distance, but experienced together.

Literature in the Fiction Section

The event takes place in the fiction section on the first floor of the Göttingen City Library. As a recurring offering, Yarn and Stories combines literary quality with exchange, deceleration, and voluntary engagement. This format shows how vibrant libraries can be as places of encounters, reading promotion, and cultural participation.

Conclusion: A Morning for Language, Craft, and Community

Yarn and Stories invites you to experience literature with all your senses: listening, knitting, and engaging in conversation. Those seeking a relaxed reading with a personal atmosphere and cultural closeness will find a special meeting point in Göttingen with Maria Gerl-Plein and Elke Ludloff-Taege.
