Film Art with Character: The Lumière Cinema Program in Göttingen
On October 14, 2026, the LUMIÈRE cinema in Göttingen will open its doors for a special cinema evening. This traditional program cinema combines carefully selected films with a personal event atmosphere and is aimed at film enthusiasts and anyone who values culturally sophisticated cinema experiences away from the mainstream.
Arthouse Cinema and Cultural Diversity
The LUMIÈRE has stood for demanding film art, socially relevant themes, and a diverse cinema program since 1986. In addition to arthouse films, documentaries, original versions, children's cinema, short films, and special film series are part of the venue's profile. This creates an event experience that goes far beyond the classic cinema visit.
An Evening with a Special Audience Atmosphere
When the lights go out in the auditorium at 5:30 PM, a focused film evening begins in an intimate atmosphere. The closeness to the audience, the individual selection of works, and the characterful ambiance make the Lumière a regular meeting point for film culture in Göttingen. Event management and planning here focus on cultural quality, clear target group communication, and a well-organized visitor experience.
Easy Access and Barrier-Free
The cinema is located at Geismar Landstraße 19. Bus lines 21 and 22 stop at the Leibnizstraße stop. Free parking is available a few minutes away in the parking lot of the New Town Hall in the evenings. The LUMIÈRE has barrier-free access.
Admission and Box Office
The regular admission price is 10 euros. Discounts are available for students, trainees, schoolchildren, the unemployed, and people with disabilities. The box office is open daily from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM and opens outside this time window half an hour before selected screenings.
Conclusion
The Lumière cinema program promises an atmospheric evening full of film art, cultural discoveries, and intense imagery. Those who want to experience Göttingen's alternative cinema with a special profile live will find a suitable meeting point for an inspiring evening here.
