The Special Atmosphere of the Program Cinema

The LUMIÈRE combines focused analysis of works with a personal exhibition atmosphere of moving images. Light, projection, space, and sound create an intense artistic experience in which cinematic narrative and aesthetic experience immediately interact. Rather than interchangeable entertainment, the encounter with carefully curated cinema is at the forefront.

Film as Cultural Education

The Göttingen cinema is a permanent place for film art and cultural education. The program includes not only regular screenings but also films in original versions with German subtitles, short film programs, children's films, and audience discussions with filmmakers and guests. This opens the LUMIÈRE's view to different cinematic forms, perspectives, and art directions.

A Place for Engaged Film Culture

Supported by the Film and Cinema Initiative Göttingen, the LUMIÈRE has long been a vibrant part of the city's cultural landscape. The screening on October 28 invites you to discover cinema as a communal cultural experience: attentive, sensory, and open to new ideas.
