Film Art at Lumière: Moving Images with a Special Atmosphere
On November 15, 2026, the LUMIÈRE cinema in Göttingen will open its doors for a carefully curated cinema program. This traditional program cinema combines sophisticated film art, socially relevant topics, and an intimate theater atmosphere into a unique stage experience for cinephiles and culture enthusiasts.
When the Cinema Hall Becomes a Resonance Room
With the extinguishing of the hall lights, the true dramaturgy of the evening begins. The screen becomes a projection surface for powerful stories, unusual perspectives, and cinematic discoveries. Unlike the fast-paced multiplex operation, the LUMIÈRE focuses on intimacy, attention, and the concentrated audience reaction of an independent program cinema.
Curated Program between Directing and Acting
The Lumière cinema program brings together selected films from various genres and production countries. Directing, acting, editing, acoustics, and lighting interplay and make each performance a unique staging. Audience discussions, children's cinema, short films, and silent film screenings with live music are part of the cultural profile of the house.
A Cinema with Character in Göttingen
The LUMIÈRE is supported by the Film and Cinema Initiative Göttingen and stands for film art beyond the mainstream. A hall with 144 seats, a personal atmosphere, and an attentive audience create ideal conditions for a cinematic visit that transcends mere entertainment. Its central location on Geismar Landstraße makes it easy to reach by public transport; free parking is available in the vicinity of the New Town Hall in the evenings.
Practical Information for the Cinema Visit
The screening begins on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Entry usually starts 30 minutes before the performance begins. The regular admission is 10 euros, reduced tickets cost 8 euros.
