Film Art at Lumière: An Evening for Moving Images and New Perspectives
On November 16, 2026, the LUMIÈRE cinema in Göttingen invites you to a carefully curated cinema program. The screening begins at 17:30, with doors opening 30 minutes prior. In the concentrated atmosphere of the program cinema, cinematic storytelling merges with cultural education, aesthetic experience, and an attentive audience.
The Cinema as a Place of Artistic Reflection
The Lumière stands for a cinema culture in which films are not only seen as entertainment but as an independent art form. The painting of light, montage, acting, sound, and spatial effects interconnect to create an audiovisual installation. The dark screening situation creates a unique exhibition atmosphere: the gaze focuses on the screen as colors, shapes, movements, and voices unfold their impact.
Program Cinema Culture with Social Resonance
The cinema program of the house is dedicated to film art, international productions, documentaries, European narrative forms, and socially relevant themes. Thus, Lumière opens a resonance space for diverse cultural perspectives. Each screening enables an intense encounter with direction, dramaturgy, cinematography, and the art historical development of moving images.
A Conscious Artistic Experience in Göttingen
The intimate cinema structure with one auditorium and 144 seats supports a direct closeness to the screen. The audience experiences the film screening in a concentrated environment, with the special attention that independent program cinemas are known for. Discussions about visual language, character development, and cinematic perspectives enrich the aesthetic experience beyond the screening.
