Film Art with Atmosphere: The Méliès Cinema Program in Göttingen
On October 18, 2026, the MÉLIÈS cinema in Göttingen invites you to a special movie evening at 5:30 PM. The regularly curated cinema program combines sophisticated film culture with the concentrated exhibition atmosphere of a historic cinema space, aimed at cinephiles and anyone who wants to experience cinematic storytelling as an aesthetic experience.
A Program Cinema with Independent Character
The MÉLIÈS is part of the Göttingen Film and Cinema Initiative and stands for carefully selected films, thematic series, and a high-quality program beyond the mainstream. The exploration of the work takes place on the screen: image composition, editing, acting, sound, and light unfold in a space that gives special significance to concentrated viewing.
Historic Architecture and Modern Film Technology
The cinema is located in a lovingly converted former Baptist church on Göttinger Wall. The preserved timber-framed construction shapes the spatial effect and gives the cinema visit an unmistakable atmosphere. Modern projection technology meets architectural history – a interplay that makes the film evening a cultural experience.
Cultural Education through Shared Viewing
Program cinema opens spaces for cultural education and differentiated engagement. Different cinematic perspectives, original versions, and selected film series promote exchange on societal issues, international narrative forms, and the development of film art. Thus, the screening becomes a shared artistic experience with lasting impact.
Visitor Information
The screening begins on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 5:30 PM and is expected to end at 7:30 PM. The regular entry fee at MÉLIÈS is 11 euros according to the official price overview; discounts and other tariff groups are available. The cinema is accessible for people with disabilities. Nearby public parking is available at the Wall, and the venue is reachable by several bus lines.
The MÉLIÈS cinema program promises a concentrated film evening in special architecture, with careful curation and space for aesthetic experience. Those who appreciate film as an art form, cultural practice, and shared experience will discover a traditional cultural address in Göttingen here. A visit is worthwhile for all who want to not just consume cinema but experience it consciously.
