Film art in a special ambiance: The Méliès Cinema Program in Göttingen
On October 19, 2026, the MÉLIÈS cinema in Göttingen invites you to a carefully curated film evening. The screening begins at 5:30 PM, with entry starting 30 minutes prior. The program cinema at Wall combines sophisticated film culture with a focused, personal exhibition atmosphere of moving images.
Program cinema as an aesthetic experience
At MÉLIÈS, the examination of the work is at the center: film is not merely understood as entertainment, but as an independent art form with visual language, rhythm, editing, and dramatic design. The cinema program is aimed at people who appreciate arthouse films, cultural education, and a conscious engagement with contemporary film art.
A cultural venue with a distinctive spatial impact
The cinema hall creates an intimate environment for focused viewing. Light, screen, and the shared attention of the audience shape an intense art experience that clearly differs from an anonymous multiplex visit. The Méliès is part of the Göttingen program cinemas Lumière and Méliès, which stand for film series, original versions, short films, and special screenings.
Film history, present, and cultural participation
The house is supported by the Film and Cinema Initiative Göttingen e. V. and has been shaping the local film culture for years. The Méliès thus offers a place for aesthetic experience, cultural exchange, and lively engagement with different cinematic perspectives. The barrier-free access supports as accessible participation in the cinema program as possible.
