Film Art at the CINEMA MÉLIÈS: An Evening of Music, History, and the Big Screen
On November 2, 2026, the CINEMA MÉLIÈS in Göttingen invites you to a special cinema visit. At 5:30 PM, the Méliès cinema program will be on the schedule – featuring carefully selected film screenings in the characterful atmosphere of a Göttingen program cinema.
Chopin as Musical Drama
On the day of the event, the film Chopin – A Sonata in Paris is announced at the CINEMA MÉLIÈS. This biographical drama takes the audience to Paris in 1835, where Frédéric Chopin, at the age of 25, finds his place amidst salons, soirées, and political tensions. The staging combines historical setting, artist portrait, and musical dramaturgy into a sensual big-screen experience.
A Stage Design of Light, Sound, and Movement
Where theater works with bodies and voices, cinema creates its effect through framing, acoustics, and lighting moods. In the MÉLIÈS, a concentrated theater atmosphere emerges: the dark hall gathers attention, while music, acting, and carefully composed images make the composer’s world tangible.
Program Cinema with Its Own Character
The CINEMA MÉLIÈS stands for a versatile arthouse program and a conscious contrast to the standardized multiplex experience. The selection ranges from current dramas and biographical films to documentaries and special film series. Thus, each cinema visit becomes a cultural stage experience where cinematic storytelling and audience reaction find direct connection.
Admission and Cinema Visit
Admission usually begins 30 minutes before the show starts. The cinema box office is open daily; outside regular box office hours, the cinema opens half an hour before the respective screening. For the evening at the MÉLIÈS, the regular admission price is 11 euros. Discounts are available for students, trainees, school pupils, unemployed persons, people with disabilities, and holders of a guild pass.
Conclusion: Experience Film Art Live
The Méliès cinema program connects musical atmosphere, historical stories, and the concentrated power of arthouse cinema. Those who understand film as visual dramaturgy, acoustic experience, and cultural encounter will find the CINEMA MÉLIÈS to be the right place for an inspiring evening. Save the date of November 2, 2026, and experience film art on the big screen.
