When the lights dim at Cinema MÉLIÈS on November 5, 2026, at 5:30 PM, a focused stage experience begins for cinephiles. The Göttingen program cinema stands for carefully curated film art, European cinema, documentaries, and international productions off the mainstream.

The Screen as a Resonance Space

At MÉLIÈS, the cinematic image unfolds its entire sensory power: precise projection, clear acoustics, and the special theater atmosphere of a house where shared viewing becomes a cultural event. The changing cinema program opens spaces for unusual perspectives, strong imagery, and stories that resonate beyond the credits.

Program Cinema with Its Own Signature

The Film and Cinema Initiative Göttingen e. V. shapes MÉLIÈS as a venue for demanding film culture. The dramaturgy of the program connects socially relevant topics, international film language, and independent productions. This creates an evening that does not rely on quick stimuli but focuses on attentiveness, atmosphere, and the lasting impact of moving images.

A Cinematic Experience with Cultural Added Value

MÉLIÈS caters to everyone who wants to experience cinema as an art form. Between light beams, the screen, and focused audience reactions, an intimate atmosphere emerges, giving every scene its own resonance. The venue is one of the established Göttingen program cinemas and is closely linked to the regional film culture scene.
