Film Art at the MÉLIÈS Cinema: An Evening for Curious Eyes

On Tuesday, November 10, 2026, the MÉLIÈS cinema in Göttingen invites you at 17:30 to its current cinema program. The traditional program cinema stands for carefully selected film art, demanding narrative forms, and a concentrated exhibition atmosphere of moving images.

The Program Cinema as a Cultural Resonance Space

At MÉLIÈS, European cinema, documentary film, international productions, and works outside the mainstream come together. Each screening offers an independent exploration of the work: images, montage, light, and sound combine into an aesthetic experience that resonates beyond the credits.

Film Forms, Societal Perspectives

The cinema program focuses on extraordinary subjects and engaged film language. Like in a curated exhibition, the arrangement of the films creates a dramatic line that brings together different epochs, art movements, and cultural contexts into conversation. Cinema becomes a space for cultural education and collective reflection.

Special Atmosphere at Göttingen Wall

The MÉLIÈS cinema is located in a converted former Baptist church. The preserved half-timbered structure of the historic church nave shapes the spatial effect and provides the cinema hall with a warm, concentrated theatrical atmosphere. Projection, darkness, and precise acoustics create an intense artistic experience for film enthusiasts.
