Art House Cinema with Its Own Signature

The CINEMA MÉLIÈS is part of the Film and Cinema Initiative Göttingen e. V. and represents a carefully curated film program away from the mainstream. The venue combines challenging film art, cultural education, and a focused exhibition atmosphere of moving images. The central focus is the aesthetic experience: light, editing, acting, and sound unfold in the dark cinema space to an immediate viewing of the work.

Lies About My Mother on the Big Screen

The German drama film tells a story that centers on family relationships and personal memories. With its calm dramaturgy and closeness to the characters, the film opens up space for precise observation. The Méliès offers the appropriate setting for this: here, cinematic language, social themes, and collective viewing come together in an atmosphere that encourages reflection and conversation.

A Cinema Space for Cultural Experience

The cinema on the Wall regularly presents current art house films, film series, and special events. The historical character of the venue, the careful program selection, and the attentive audience shape the art experience. Film appears here not merely as entertainment but as an independent art form between painting, literature, theater, and music.
