Between Kitchen Light and Soul Space: Next Door in Göttingen
On October 9, 2026, the Sheddachhalle in the Sartorius Quarter transforms into a poetic interior for Ingrid Lausund's tragicomic monologues. Bjarne Mädel and Fritzi Haberlandt encounter characters whose homes reveal more about their fears, longings, and fragile life foundations than about furniture and rooms.
Wobbly Life Foundations, Precisely Observed
In Next Door. Monologues for Home, Ingrid Lausund focuses on people in small parallel universes. Between the bed, bathroom, dining table, and television, they struggle for dignity, security, and belonging. The author combines sharp humor with quiet abysses and turns everyday interiors into stages for existential questions.
Acting with Intimacy and Fine Rhythm
Bjarne Mädel and Fritzi Haberlandt guide through a selection of the twelve monologues. Their staged reading thrives on precise language observation, varying tones, and the immediate presence of two distinctive voices from German film and theater. The dramaturgy oscillates between grotesque comedy, touching insecurity, and moments of quiet realization.
An Evening Between Laughter and Resonance
The production opens a resonance space for the small catastrophes of everyday life: loneliness, overwhelm, the longing for a functioning home, and the question of how people establish their lives. Lausund's texts, also known from her work on the TV series Crime Scene Cleaner, combine social observation with pointed stage art.
Conclusion: A Stage Experience about Home within People
The audience can expect a concentrated theater evening with precise acting, dark humor, and human warmth. Those who want to experience how seemingly familiar living spaces transform into emotional landscapes will find in Next Door a compelling evening full of comedic breaks and emotional afterimages.
