When Art Becomes a Crime Scene: Art Crimes Live in Göttingen
On November 14, 2026, Forum Wissen transforms into a stage for spectacular art thefts, sophisticated forgeries, and unresolved questions. At Art Crimes Live – Crime Scene Göttingen, podcast hosts Torben Steenbuck and Lenore Lötsch from NDR Kultur bring the true-crime format to the stage.
A Criminal Investigation Between Art and Science
The presentation combines investigative research, narrative drama, and the immediate energy of a live podcast. Central to the event are cases from the art world: artworks disappear, provenances become shaky, and every detail can open a new lead. The Göttingen art crime receives a special local perspective.
Useful Clues from the Art Collection
Torben Steenbuck and Lenore Lötsch are supported by Dr. Anne-Katrin Sors, curator of the art collection at the University of Göttingen. Her expertise anchors the evening in art history and opens up the view for the complex work behind provenance research, museum inventories, and safeguarding cultural heritage.
True Crime as a Stage Experience
Instead of quiet contemplation, a tense theater atmosphere is created: voices, facts, and surprising twists guide the audience through an evening where the boundary between podcast, conversation, and performing arts intentionally blurs. The audience's reaction thrives on the shared unraveling of a case – immediate, focused, and with the thrill of a criminal investigation.
Part of the Podcast Festival Wissen to Listen
The event takes place as part of the first Forum Wissen Podcast Festival, which is held on November 14, 2026, in collaboration with the Hotel FREIgeist Göttingen Innenstadt and in cooperation with NDR. The festival concept expands the classic museum and stage experience with conversations, sound, knowledge, and lively communication.
Conclusion: An Art Crime that Sharpens the Eye
Art Crimes Live – Crime Scene Göttingen promises an exciting evening for all interested in art, history, museums, and compelling storytelling. Those who want to experience true crime not only by listening but as a shared stage experience will find an extraordinary crime scene at Forum Wissen.
