When the Revolution Begins on the Farm
George Orwell's famous fable Animal Farm will come to APEX Göttingen on November 20, 2026, as a pointed theatrical adaptation. silent dogs tell the story of awakening, freedom, and the dangerous transformation of democratic ideals into authoritarian rule.
A Tale for Adults with Political Explosiveness
The plot begins with a rebellion out of necessity: because the animals on Farmer Jones's farm are no longer being fed, they break out of the feed room and drive away their owner. Under the guiding principle of common self-determination, a new order emerges. However, the initial enthusiasm soon gives way to the disillusionment of political everyday life.
From Utopia to Dictatorship
Stefan Dehler and Christoph Huber transform Orwell's dystopian tale into a stage adaptation full of cabaret-style wit and clear dramatic lines. The pigs initially rise as clever advisors, gradually taking control and turning the grassroots democratic community into a regime. Thus, a gripping theater experience unfolds about power, equality, propaganda, and the abuse of revolutionary promises.
Simple Theatrical Means, Strong Impact
The production relies on concentrated acting skills and a reduced stage language. It is from this formal clarity that the performance gains its power: characters, language, and rhythm of play bring the political mechanisms directly to the forefront. The theatrical atmosphere combines a sharp view of social conditions with the pleasure of a lively, accessible evening on stage.
