Sunday tour through a future in the twilight
On Sunday, November 8, 2026, curator Stephan Klee will guide visitors through the exhibition TRANSHUMAN N°5: Dysis in the historic Old Town Hall of Göttingen. Between medieval architecture and contemporary art, an intense discovery experience unfolds about change, civilization, and the future of humanity.
Art between twilight and departure
The ancient Greek term Dysis denotes, among other things, the setting of a celestial body, the west, twilight, and a moment of transition. This meaning shapes the curatorial dramaturgy of the group exhibition. The works appear as traces of an abandoned future: objects, sculptures, installations, and film sequences tell of a world where human activity is only visible as a remnant.
A tour through the cultural heritage of the present
The tour combines art historical expertise with societal questions. In the approximately 320 square meter exhibition spaces, twelve international artistic positions come together, including Astali/Peirce, Birte Bosse, Simon Faithfull, Olga Fedorova, Stella Geppert, Bastian Hoffmann, Virginie Ittah, Delia Jürgens, Felix Kiessling, Frederik Marks, Aline Schwörer, and Geerten Verheus.
Visitors will discover an exhibition that intertwines painting, sculpture, installation, video, and object art. Deformed materials, relics of human labor, and images of decaying architecture create an atmosphere between crime scene, future archive, and poetic ruins landscape.
With a curatorial perspective through the exhibition
Stephan Klee explains the historical, aesthetic, and socio-political contexts of the works. In doing so, the tour focuses on questions that extend beyond the individual exhibition space: What traces does our present leave behind? How does technological development change our image of humanity? And what future begins when an era enters twilight?
The Old Town Hall of Göttingen provides a special framework for this. The historic environment enhances the contrast between medieval urban space and an imaginary world after the end of our current civilization. Thus, the tour becomes a cultural enrichment for art enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and anyone who wishes to view current societal developments from a new perspective.
Conclusion: A special kind of city tour
The Sunday tour offers a concentrated engagement with contemporary art, local architecture, and major future questions. Those who want to discover Göttingen culturally and want to experience an extraordinary exhibition can find an inspiring afternoon full of visual impressions and thought-provoking impulses in the Old Town Hall.
